All Books Read in 2022

I just posted about the books I read this month. With this being the last day of the year, it's time to tally all the books I read this year! This was the whole point of keeping track of my reading progress on my blog. I wanted to keep track of books I read this year. Sadly, there is just one book I will not be able to finish reading tonight. It will go into my new reading journal as a book I finished reading next month. When I was counting up all the books read in all 12 blog posts, I found an error: Somehow or another, I got the numbers wrong! This started with the August blog post. I went back and fixed ALL of them. Now all of the correct numbers are in the posts from August to the present. I am just glad I still managed to read over 100 books this year! I beat my old record! Yay! Anyway, here is the CORRECT number of books I read this year. 1. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald 2. How to Crochet: A Guide for Newbies by Sarah Taylor 3. Four Gifts: Seeking Self-Care for He...

Reading Progress for May 2022

May has been an interesting month for me. I turned 48, landed two writing assignments with the same client (up until now, it had been one assignment per month), I discovered a new route when I went on my birthday walk with my kids (and two of our animals!) and I got to attend my youngest's track meet. It was pretty awesome! I have also written another ebook (the May KU book), submitted some writings to other markets and entered a poetry book contest. Along the way, I also stuck to the reading, though not as often as usual. Some days I got so busy, I only had time to read ebooks or just a couple of the 6 print books I am currently reading. Even so, I did manage to finish reading some books this month. Not as many as previous months, but I'm still happy with this. It's five books for the fifth month. Here are books I either read or finished reading in May: 36. 2k to 10k: Writing Faster, Writing Better, and Writing More of What You Love by Rachel Aaron 37. Area 51: An Uncen...

Reading Progress for April 2022

April is one of my favorite months of the year. Why? April is National Poetry Month! I love poetry. Poetry is the first thing that I started writing, all those years ago when a nurse gave me an empty journal and encouraged me to fill it with poetry. The first thing I ever had published was a poem, when I was 11 years old. I created a local poetry club, in which I edited and published a poetry magazine, and I have self-published over a dozen poetry books. I’ve done poetry readings, poetry contests and participated in poetry message boards.   For this reason, I made sure I included poetry books among the books I read this month. Two of the poetry books I read are from famous poets, but I definitely looked for poetry books by unknown poets as well. I am glad I was able to include at least one of them! (There would have been two, but I just didn’t like the other poetry book I started reading.)   I am also tackling the Classics shelf of one of my many bookcases and...

Reading Progress for March 2022

I didn’t get much reading done this month – that is, if you don’t count the MANY articles I read for the March KU book I wrote. But for books? Nope, not that many this month. I was mostly focused on the topic I was writing about, and for the first couple of weeks, aside from one children’s book written by a friend and fellow author, I just read books about that topic. That’s how it is when I am writing a nonfiction book with a tight deadline: I read ONLY books on that topic! I don’t even read newspaper or magazine articles unless they are on that topic. (Which means I usually have a lot of catching up to do on the various newspaper and magazine mailing lists I am on!).   However, as I got close to finishing the book, I went back to reading other books. The books I am reading are as follows:   Research book Biography Random nonfiction book A book from a shelf I am currently tackling (right now, the classics) A fellow author book A series book  ...
