Just Me

  Some good things happened for me this month. I said goodbye to using the eye drops three times a day, Every Single Day, because I finished using them. My doctor FINALLY figured out what kind of medication I should take that helps with the daily headaches (as well as, surprisingly, my daily episode of falling asleep in midday!), and I have been enjoying some headache-free days. Well, the physical kind, anyway; there were quite a few things that happened this month that really got my blood boiling or made me want to scream. Some of those things made me feel like I was being pulled in different directions! I just hope ALL of that is over with and all of us can finally move forward with our lives and our careers.   I had a really nice Mother’s Day this month. The funny thing is that both of my kids got me the same thing, and that put me in the awkward position of having to choose which one to keep.     March was a VERY busy month, both on a personal and professional level.   For Twisted Dreams Press: We are in the final stretch of wrapping up the Week of Terrors anthology series. The books filled up fast as we got closer to reaching the end! Now only the Saturday book is left, with just four spots left! And speaking of anthologies, I got an idea for another one, which I hope to put out a call for after we finish reading stories for Slasher Saturday. Since my business partner has been in the hospital since December and we are NOT discussing anything related to the press while she is there, I have yet to receive a response to the email I sent to her about this new anthology idea. (She is not reading emails sent to her press email address until she returns to work.) So I can’t really say too much about it until I hear from her.   I received the usual round of rejections on poems and short stories submitted this month, but I also had quite a bit of accept...

  A writing gig I had that ended last month may have come to an end, but I was still very busy during the month of February. Not only was it a busy month for me, but it was also certainly a month of ups and downs.   Fortunately, I kept up with writing in my journal every day this month. This actually helped me when I was dealing with a lack of motivation to write; writing a whole page in my journal really served as a reminder that I can still write no matter what I was dealing with!   I did deal with quite a few things this month that I would rather not talk about here (that’s what my journal is for!), but fortunately nothing that was life-shattering. I just kept putting one foot in front of the other and did the things that I had to do.   We did have my son’s dog’s one-year deathversary this month. And that was really hard. We miss him SO MUCH.
