Just Me

  Some good things happened for me this month. I said goodbye to using the eye drops three times a day, Every Single Day, because I finished using them. My doctor FINALLY figured out what kind of medication I should take that helps with the daily headaches (as well as, surprisingly, my daily episode of falling asleep in midday!), and I have been enjoying some headache-free days. Well, the physical kind, anyway; there were quite a few things that happened this month that really got my blood boiling or made me want to scream. Some of those things made me feel like I was being pulled in different directions! I just hope ALL of that is over with and all of us can finally move forward with our lives and our careers.   I had a really nice Mother’s Day this month. The funny thing is that both of my kids got me the same thing, and that put me in the awkward position of having to choose which one to keep.   As busy as the month of April has been, I am grateful that I still found the time to read. And I was especially grateful to be able to even read at all since I had eye surgery on the first. Because this was the first time I have ever had cataract surgery, I didn’t know what to expect. I was worried I would have a difficult time adjusting to reading with both of my eyes again.   But, no, that’s not what happened at all.   Fortunately, my eye surgery was a success, and vision was restored to my right eye. Hooray!   As for the adjustment to reading with BOTH of my eyes again instead of just with one eye, as I had been doing for nearly a year? It was a piece of cake. In fact, there was no trouble at all! It’s just like riding a bicycle; it came back to me.   They say that it takes a village to make things happen. But in my case, it took 40 people to help me to afford the cost of undergoing corrective eye surgery.   Last year, during the summer, I noticed that I was having vision problems. I like to look up at the moon, and during such occasions, I would see a black spot in the center when looking at the moon with my right eye. I thought this was unusual. I checked with my left eye, and there was no black spot. But with my right eye, there was. This troubled me, so I started testing the vision with my right eye in other circumstances. I would try to look at things only with my right eye, but what I saw was blurry.   Don’t get me started on the many mishaps I ran into when trying to drive.   So, at one point, I texted my husband, “I think there is something wrong with my right eye.”   I made an appointment with the ophthalmologist and got my vision checked.
