I May Be Late for the Party, But I'm Still Showing Up

Image
It was recently brought to my attention that both Mercury and Venus were in retrograde. One friend commented that, during this time, one thing we are going to need is patience – and lots of it!   At first, I didn’t really understand why she stressed the importance of having patience with others during the retrograde, but as things began to unfold, I understood.   I had to have patience with my youngest, who just wasn’t ready for our Christmas tree to come down after Christmas was over. We usually took our tree down the day after Christmas, or very soon thereafter. But by New Year’s, it was still up. I began to suspect they just wanted to hold on to Christmas, and the happy memories they had from it, for as long as possible. Both my husband and I rolled our eyes and sighed in frustration over seeing that Christmas tree STILL up yet again 10 days into January and two weeks into January. But now, today, it has come down. My youngest told me they were ready. In fa...

Four Things to Celebrate From My Day

Image
When I made the decision to stop doing the celebration blog posts every day, I mentioned that I’ll still do one every once in a while. Today is definitely the right occasion to write a celebrations blog post. I have four things to celebrate from today!   There are some goals I set for myself this year and today, I completed the first step in making two of those goals a reality.   One goal that I have is to write an ebook for every month of the year. I got the idea for this challenge from another writer who was able to do that very thing. Not only did she write an ebook every month of the year, but she also self-published them for that particular month of the year! I thought that was pretty awesome and quite an amazing challenge to take on. I kept thinking I would like to do this challenge someday, too.   Well, 2022 became the year I am doing that challenge! Right now, I am still unemployed, so I do have the time to write these ebooks in one week. I ho...

The 12 Things Challenge

Image
Before the year started, I wanted to learn 12 new things, one thing each month of the year. I always love learning new things (which is part of the reason why I devour the news every day!), and as part of this “new life” I am living (i.e., sober), I want to make an effort to continue to improve as a person and increase my skills as much as possible.   Unfortunately, I was not able to learn all 12 things that I planned to learn this year. Alas! Because of Covid restrictions, insufficient planning and lack of funds, I was just not able to get the last of the things that I wanted to learn down pat.   Here are the things that I DID manage to learn this year:   1. Cars (the basics, anyway) 2. Exercise and physical fitness 3. Running 4. Yoga 5. Tai Chi 6. Hiking 7. Tae Kwon Do   I should add that, in some cases, I used a book to learn about some of those things. I tried to put into practice what the books taught me, but without an expert – or ...
