Looking Forward to November
It’s kinda weird writing this blog post. I just wrote another blog post where I summed up all the bad stuff that happened in October, as well as this year, so I was feeling pretty disheartened after I finished writing it.
Should I look forward to the new month that is upon us? There are some good things planned for the new month, so I would like to think I can at least feel a little bit of hope that next month will be better than this month.
I guess we will see!
I usually don’t want to jinx anything by mentioning plans, because then those plans won’t come about! I also believe that instead of talking about what you are going to do, you should talk about what you have done.
But I need to get ALL of this stuff out of my head and down on the, er, screen so that I can keep track of it all.
So, here is what is on the horizon for November:
The month of November will see the launch of a new publishing division at Twisted Dreams Press. These books will be invitation-only.
Writing a novel! NaNoWriMo may be no more, but I don’t need a national writing event to write a novel! One of my sisters asked me to write this book and, because I haven’t written a novel yet this year (gasp!), I am going to set aside the month of November to get it written! Maybe the month of November can be my own personal novel writing month? It’s an idea!
I will once again have a children’s book published by an indie press! After Gypsy Shadow Publishing stopped publishing children’s books and another indie press canceled all my contracts, I started self-publishing them. But then I lost my illustrator and production ceased on those books. When Baynam Books Press started publishing children’s books, I asked if I could submit mine. They said yes and they currently have about 5 or 6 of my children’s books manuscripts. And one of them, Little Turtle Finds Friends, will be published on November 30. I am looking forward to my other children’s books being published by them as well.
And speaking of that book: It is the second in a series. I managed to turn the first book I wrote, The Dream Forest, into a series with the writing of Little Turtle Finds Friends. This story takes place in the same magical forest that is in The Dream Forest. So I decided, why not officially make it a series? The Dream Forest is going to be revised and get a new cover, and it will be republished with a new title as well – in November! Another change is that my name will be different on the new cover. My publisher of Little Turtle suggested I use my married name, Dawn Wilson, as the author name for my children’s books, and I agreed. This suggestion was made not just because I write horror under the name Dawn Colclasure, but I will also have erotic horror as well as horror smut stories that will be published in 2026. We fear that parents of children who read my children’s books will NOT want their kids reading ANYTHING I have written at all since the Colclasure name will be associated with that kind of writing, even the stuff that is safe for children to read. So maybe they will be more forgiving if I use a different last name. And, anyway, “Wilson” is easier for kids to pronounce and spell rather than “Colclasure.” It just sucks I have to give new covers to ALL of the children’s books I currently have published! I’m so glad that I have some help with this. The art will remain; it’s just the names that are being changed.
My deaf poetry book, Noiseless, MAY have been delayed last month, but I’m getting assurances that it WILL be published in November for sure. I hope so! This particular poetry book was a manuscript that was out on submission for a Very Long Time. It was rejected by many publishers and it went through many revisions. So I was thrilled when BBP accepted it. It will be a very big deal for me when this book is finally published.
My second article for Able News will be published in November. Yay! This particular article is about the blind gamer, Ross Minor. I am so grateful for the opportunity to interview Ross for this article. And I’m grateful to Able News for accepting the article for publication!
My first collection of YA horror, The Worst Thing You Ever Did, is scheduled for re-release by Twisted Dreams Press in November. This book was my debut into YA horror and I’m excited by the prospect of seeing it back in print.
The second book in the Week of Terrors anthology series, Terrifying Tuesday, will be published in November. Yay! I am especially excited about this one because my sister, Millie, and I will both have stories in it. We’ll be in an anthology together for the very first time! Woot! (I’m also excited about this book’s cover! It’s AWESOME!)
So, there are some good things planned for the month of November. Here’s hoping that they will actually happen! And who knows what else might come about next month? I just hope those things I mentioned above WILL really happen. I’ll have to report back on November 30 with an update.
