Books Read in 2024

It’s that time again! Time to list all of the books I have read this year. Just like last year, this year, I wrote down all the books I read this year in a spiral notebook. That ended up presenting a problem when I typed up the list this evening; in some cases, I couldn’t read my own handwriting! I had to look up book titles and author names to get them right.

At the beginning of the year, my reading goal was to read one book published by a certain publishing company each month, along with a new book. That reading goal was shot down after that publishing company closed its doors. So I just decided to wing it and just read whatever books this year. But as the year drew to a close, I noticed I was almost at 150 books read this year! So in December, my new reading goal for 2024 was to read 150 books. And I was able to meet that goal! Yay!

But, as it happens every year that I do this list, I discovered there were two books which I forgot to include on this list. D’oh! I added them while I typed this list out for the blog post and so now I have read 152 books this year. Nice!

My reading goal for 2025: Read 10 books a month every month.

Some people have asked how I have been able to read so many books. All I can say is that it helps to be a book reviewer! It also helps to be paid to review books! That particular side gig has been immensely helpful this year and I will be sad to see it come to an end next year.

I was also gifted books this year and I also read certain books for research. Additionally, I was asked to review books by either the authors or the publishers. All of those reviews either went up on Amazon, Goodreads, or my book review blog. Or all three. So, yeah, those extra books I read ended up on the list.

I have also read books when they were still manuscripts. I only added the ones to this list which have gone on to be published.

Here are some other ways that I have managed to read so much this year:

  • I read anytime I am waiting. While in line, at an appointment, while waiting for a meal to be ready, etc.

  • I read first thing in the morning and before I go to bed.

  • I read whenever I have any free time.

  • I read into the wee hours of the night if the book is THAT good and I can’t put it down.

  • I read several books at once. I can spend time reading in 3-6 books in one day. All of this adds up to more books read each month.

  • I read books in several formats: Print books; ebooks on my phone through the apps Kindle, Libby, Everand and BookFunnel; and I also read ebooks on the computer/laptop. Sometimes I go from each of them in one day. No audiobooks for me because I am deaf.

  • If I’m in the car with you and there is a book in view, I’ll grab it and read it! One time I was in the back seat of a car and asked to hold several children’s books during the drive. Of course, I got busy reading them until I had to (sadly!) hand them over and say goodbye to them forever.

These particular reading habits have indeed helped me to read many books. And knowing a lot of other authors has helped me to become aware of other great books that are out there, so it’s even more books to read!

So, without further ado, here is my list of books read in 2024. Note: I don’t include ARCs or books not yet published in this list.
