9 Things to Celebrate from Today

Most of the things I have to celebrate from today are writing-related. For the past few weeks, I have been focused on going over the file for the revised edition of the Tips book. We are preparing to relaunch the book with revisions and updates. But my other books and other things I am writing are always in the back of my mind.

So are other things I have thought about for a great part of my day. Earlier today, I posted about my desire to go back to college, and how I was unsure of what I would study when I do go back. I think that is why #8 happened the way it did. It was only when I stopped being so distracted by everything around me, focused on other things and unable to really think about it that my subconscious was able to pull out the answer I needed while I slept.

Here then are 9 things I have to celebrate from today.

1. I found an old essay I wrote that could go into an essay collection that I am working on. It was published on a blog, but I thought of ways to change it up to make it “new” again so that it can go into this book.

2. Some time ago, I wrote a novella. I dug it out and read it this year and decided that I needed to change the ending. But I couldn’t figure out a new ending! I have been thinking about that for weeks. This morning, after I got out of the shower, the idea for the new ending hit me. It’s perfect! Yay!!

3. I added more to an article I wrote yesterday and decided that it will go into the new edition of the Tips book.

4. Sometime ago, I wrote a children’s story. My oldest had drawn the pictures for it and I want to get it self-published. But first, I needed to get feedback on it, preferably from someone in the age group the book is written for. My friend’s daughter was in that group and agreed to read the story so I took it to them. Then I waited. And waited. The more time that passed that I did not get her feedback on the story, the more anxious I grew. And I kept thinking, “Oh, no! She hates it! Wah!” But my friend finally got back to me today and told me that her daughter liked the story. Phew!

5. My oldest bought me a Starbucks!

6. I finished going over the main body of the Tips book and I am now going through the appendices. I came upon one section of the book where other writers and authors sounded off on the book’s topic. Since we are updating this book, I thought it would be a good idea to include quotes from other writers and authors. So I contacted some that I know and asked if they wanted to contribute. Happily, some of them got back to me and said that they did. Awesome!

7. I finished reading a book.

8. I woke up from a nap this afternoon with a realization for something. As I thought about it, I finally decided on just what I will study when I go back to school.

9. I drank 10 glasses of water today.
