11 Things to Celebrate From My Day -- The One Month Post!
Today was an okay day. Lots of ups and downs. There were more ups than downs, though, which was a good thing! Some very big ups, by the way.
My
youngest got home when it was dark so we didn’t put up the webs. Maybe
tomorrow. But I DID get another Halloween decoration up! Hopefully we’ll be
done with all of them by the time October rolls around. The decoration pictured above is the one my youngest helped me to put up yesterday.
Here are eleven things I have to celebrate from my day.
1. Today marks ONE MONTH that I have been doing the daily celebrations! Every day for one whole month in a row! My very first celebrations post was on August 27th, on Facebook. Then I decided to move them here to my blog on the next day. I’m so stoked that I have been able to keep up with this every day for a whole month!
There WILL be a change, though. Starting tomorrow, the celebrations posts will no longer appear every day. Before I started all of this, I tried to see how it went when I spent one day of my week unplugged. No phone or computer or TV. It was AWESOME! I spent my day doing OTHER things without those distractions.
Don't get me wrong, though. As a writer, having a computer to write with is great. Internet and email is great to help me to stay connected with my publishers. Social media is great for helping me to stay connected to friends, family and to network with fellow writers. But I seriously need just ONE day of the week to unplug. I just need to focus on my mental health and the people who are around me.
I will continue to post celebrations on here, but just not every day. I will post on my Twitter and Facebook when the post is live!
2. I started writing an article this morning that turned out to be one of those articles that takes longer than a day to write. All good, though! I will just work on it some more tomorrow.
3. I started reading two books today.
4. I started taking an online course today. Thankfully, the course is only 30 minutes long for three times a week. And even better: All of the videos are closed-captioned. YAY!
5. I figured something out today! I have been working on different things and figured out how to make it all fit into the "new life" I am creating for myself. You can read about that here
6. I was able to fix a Halloween decoration today! Found it in the bin yesterday but it was broken. It's always awesome when I manage to fix something!
7. I caught an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit tonight!! WOO-HOO!! I have not watched SVU for soooo long. It is one of my favorites but I sorta lost track of my shows and got busy with other stuff. Now that I know when to catch SVU, I'll be watching for more episodes! And try to get caught up.
8. I had enough money to buy a very pretty sweater today. It was on sale and it was my favorite color (blue) and it just looked so comfy that I couldn't pass it up. It fits really well, too!
9. My youngest made it home safely when he took the bus home from a friend's house this evening.
10. We got A LOT of rain today! Woo-hoo! I love the rain!
11. I couldn't find my notes about one of the nonfiction books that I have been reading so I just gave up looking for them, figuring I deleted them from my phone or something. But it was only AFTER I stopped looking for them that I found them! Fortunately, I had remembered what my notes were when I needed that info earlier. It turned out that I had remembered them correctly! Very cool on all counts.
