10 Things to Celebrate from Today
It's been hard trying to stay postie with all of the bad things going on. The devastation and wreckage from Hurricane Ida. The plight of innocent people in Afghanistan. The violence going on across the country (such as shootings). Wildfires and people losing their homes because of them.
But that is what makes my daily task of finding reasons to celebrate even more important. I have had to deal with bad things too, in my personal and writing life. But I think about the good things, my reasons to celebrate from the day, and it makes me feel like that at least there are some good things happening despite the bad things.
And we need to focus on those good things. If we can't find anything good in our day, then make something good. Sing, laugh, hug your loved ones and cook a meal for your family or for someone living alone.
Here are 10 things I have to celebrate from today.
1. I got to sleep in this morning.
2. I finished reading an ebook today.
3. I finished one part of the end matter for a nonfiction book. That was the last thing that I had to put together for the last part of the book! I am celebrating this because I was working on it over the summer but forgot about it when I was ALMOST done with it! I remembered it today and after I finished work on another book, I tackled it and finished it up.
4. I checked in with a client I am ghostwriting a book for. I had an idea on how to start the book and she liked this idea. Yay!
5. WE GOT ICE CREAM!
6. I was able to add more Kindle ebooks to read to my library. I can't wait to read them!
7. A funny thing happened: I guess I forgot where I put my Star Trek mask because I couldn't find it. So today, as I was grabbing my hairbrush from my purse, I was thinking, 'Where is my Star trek mask??' and there it was, on my hairbrush! So I celebrate finding my Star Trek mask today!
8. I had to write about something scientific in layman’s terms for a book. I was a little nervous about it, but I read as much as I could about it and I figured, if I read enough about it to where I understood it, I could write about it using my own words, in a way that even a child could understand. Well, I was able to write about it in that way and I HOPE I got it right! But yay for being able to write about it in a non-technical way.
9. I worked on revisions for a short story today. I liked the story a lot but it did need some work. Fortunately, I was able to revise it in one sitting. Yay! I am not sure if it’s “just right” though. I need to let it sit and just think about it. But I’m glad I got that done!
10. I was hoping we would have pizza for dinner tonight and that's exactly what my husband ended up getting us for dinner! And we watched Star Trek: Deep Space Nine while we ate.
Those were actually pretty good things! And they were more than the bad things. Made me think that it was a perfect day.
