My Last Day at 48

Today is my last day as a 48-year-old. Not very noteworthy, but I gotta say, it has been an awesome day!

I have been busy with the freelance writing, interviewing people for articles all day. Yes, I started this morning, and I’m still at it after 11PM! I have interviewed people through email, Facebook Messenger, and on Twitter DMs! I allow the interviewee to choose which method they prefer to be interviewed so we just went with it from there!

I also FINALLY activated my new gym membership. Yay! I am excited about this gym membership and look forward to hitting the gym often! So happy to finally find an affordable gym membership! And they gave me an early birthday present: A free water bottle!

Speaking of early birthday wishes: Some of my friends on Facebook have started to wish me a happy early birthday! That is really nice.

I also created an account on TikTok. I can hear my youngest sister exclaim, “FINALLY!” Ha. She has been bugging me to join TikTok for a looong time. Well, I finally did it! I look forward to posting about books, writing, fitness, paranormal, animals and anything deaf-related on there. I'm dmcwriter on TikTok.

I also had a GREAT appointment with my physical therapist today! For once, there was no pain in my knee! And the best part is, I got to run without any pain! YAY!!! I am soo excited and happy about this. It was just REALLY amazing! I am now walking up and down stairs without any difficulty or any pain, as well! I am also walking down steps like a normal person! No more taking steps one at a time as I walk down steps. I can now easily walk down steps without pain or balance issues! I am just SO THRILLED about that! Stairs have been a problem for me for a long time, even before the knee injury. But NOW I can walk down steps normally instead of one step at a time or even sideways, like I was doing with the set of stairs we have in the house. I was so happy about this that I spent time this evening going up and down those steps normally and I clapped with delight every time I managed it okay. It’s just GREAT!

But being able to run without pain in my knee was really great too. I am just so happy about that and THRILLED that physical therapy cured that problem! YAY!!

My physical therapist is amazing. At the very beginning, I had so much pain in that knee. Before physical therapy, walking was painful. There was even a time I was dragging that leg behind me as I walked!

But no more of that now. Now I walk normally. (My physical therapist also gave me pointers about walking better in order to improve my balance. She also reminded me to keep using my left arm and my left hand!) I’ll be putting her advice and exercises to use to improve walking even more.

Also at the beginning of physical therapy, my physical therapist was concerned about my injury. She said it was a difficult injury to recover from. She said sometimes people could not recover from it and there was a possibility I would have had to see a specialist if physical therapy did not work.

But it did. It worked. I now no longer have to live with that pain or that injury. I mean, honestly, it lasted for so long, I thought I WOULD have to live with it!

But now I don’t. Pain is gone and my range of motion is better.

And it will continue to improve because I will continue to do those exercises. And run again! I can’t wait to run again. And again!
