Reading Progress for August 2022

August was actually a busy month for me. It started out slow work-wise, but things eventually did pick up. My kids were busy with their own things, too: My oldest with his jobs, summer school as well as preparation for Fall term, and my youngest with getting everything in order for their first year of high school. I was also VERY busy with my own writing projects and the newsletter!

I am glad I managed to still fit in time to read books this month. Okay, actually, I always try to fit in time to read; I read while I’m waiting in the car, waiting in line, during meals, while cooking, waiting for people to get ready to leave, etc. I just can’t go a day without reading! Or writing.

The number of books I read this month is once again an odd number, but it’s not a bad number, really. Thirteen books. I do try to read at least 10 books each month, so it was nice to read 13 books. I did try to finish reading another book today (making the total of books I finished reading 4 instead of 3), but my eyes got tired.

This month, I read three novels, two writing books, two research books and the other stuff! I didn’t finish reading a second biography that I started reading after I finished reading Girl in the Dark (a REALLY good book, by the way!), nor did I finish reading the other novel I started reading, which is a book from my Classics shelf. I plan to finish reading them both next month!

So, no, I didn’t finish reading a book from the Classics shelf this month, which is the shelf I am currently trying to work my way through. A friend encouraged everyone to read A Handmaid’s Tale so that is the one I read instead. (That book made me have nightmares! I had a very heated blog post I wanted to write in my head because of reading that book and in light of the Supreme Court overturning Roe, but I decided not to write it. Let’s just say that what I planned to write contained A LOT of bad words and A LOT of rage directed at the members of the Supreme Court!)

So, a good mix of books this month. I’ll get back to the regular round of books next month, but I’m also planning to read OTHER books for research!
